    In the lead up to Defqon.1 Australia we have a chat to some of the artists who have never been Down Under before. We find out how they started their career, their personal highlights so far and what they are most looking forward to during their visit to Australia. This week... Psyko Punkz!

    When and how did the Psyko Punkz start their career? Tell us a little bit of history…
    We (Sven and Wietse) have both been producing music since a young age. First we became friends and after a couple of years we talked about doing a colab together. This turned out way good, that’s why we decided to send it to a record label (Dirty Workz). They signed us and Psyko Punkz was born.

    How can we characterise your music style?
    Hard, raw and with a mainstream edge to it.

    How did you come up with your artist name?
    We made up a list with names and picked this one.
    Psyko Punkz, sounds pretty Psyko (laughs), cause we are Psyko :D
    No just kidding. Our music sounds kind of psyko thou...

    What are your most famous tracks?
    Overclipping, Raise Your Hands Up, After MF, Rock Ya Attitude, Pull Your Strings 2010.

    What are your highlights of your career so far?
    Ehm too many (laughs). We are doing so many big parties at the moment that it’s too hard to choose. But Defqon.1 2010 NL was a big highlight for sure! The whole area was packed and it went off! Such a good time. Also Reverze in Belgium was a big highlight. Sportpaleis Antwerp full with people, WOW! And not to forget Decibel last weekend, 45,000 people and playing mainstage, that was a big honour for us.

    How do the Psyko Punkz spend their time when not dj’ing or producing music?
    That's not a lot of time ;). Most time goes into producing tracks. In our spare time we like to have some drinks and some good laughs.

    What editions of Defqon.1 have you played at so far and how was your experience?
    We played at the 2009 and 2010 Dutch edition. Both were awesome. Defqon.1 is for sure the party of the year!

    What can we expect from your set at Defqon.1 Australia?
    You can expect the Punkz going crazy & wild on the decks, showing you that we know how to rock the party! Expect a raw set with all our hot tracks.

    Who are you going to check out at the festival?
    We will probably stick to mainstage to see all the artists perform there. And of course check out our mates Alpha² in the Blue area.

    How long are you staying in Australia and what’s on your to-do list during that time?
    We are staying for about 1 week and we will relax and try to see as much as possible from Sydney. Me (Wietse) used to live in Australia for 1 year back in the day, so I know my way around.

    What are your plans for the rest of the year?
    We are working on our new website which will be online in about a month. We just finished a colab with Noisecontrollers, which turned out really nice so we're ready to drop some more bombs in hardstyle land!

    Anything else you want to say?
    We just can’t wait to play our set in Oz. It's going to be banging! See you guys soon!
