    Defqon.1 Australia - Introducing... B-Front

In the lead up to Defqon.1 Australia we have a chat to some of the artists who have never been Down Under before. We find out how they started their career, their personal highlights so far and what they are most looking forward to during their visit to Australia. This week... B-Front!
    B-Front
    Who: B-Front
    Playing: Main stage / Red

When and how did you start your career? Tell us a little bit about your history…
I started my career when I was at the age of 10. My old neighbour owned a record label with a studio in his building. He was busy with a project and needed some vocals from a child, so he asked me and my brother for that. That was the first time I walked into a studio and it was great! I think you can say it was love at first sight.

From then on I started producing myself. First with some cheap programs, but I learned a lot from those. Finally I began dj'ing at the age of 14.... and from then on it all went very fast, which is like a dream coming true!

How can we characterize your music style?
I play more the ruff and hard hardstyle. I play tracks that give me a good vibe, and I hope to pass that onto the audience. So my style is hard but achievable.

How did you come up with your artist name?
Because my first name is Bob, I wanted a name with a B. So the first step was made... B! (laughs).
I also wanted a name that everybody can pronounce easily.
B-Front sounded cool so the choice was easily made. The name stands for what I do!

What are your most famous tracks?
I think everybody knows the collaborations with Frontliner, to list a few:

    Magic

    Godz Powerrr

    Become The Sky

    1.000.000 Stars

Also ‘Sleepwalker’ and ‘Neophobia’, which are some of my new solo tracks, are very well received.
This year I produced so many new tracks! And I’m going to play them in Australia off course!

What are your highlights of your career so far?
I think the whole year 2010 can be seen as a highlight. This year I played at almost every big party! Every time I step on stage it gives me shiverz, because a couple of years ago I was just a visitor (like anyone else) to all those parties like Defqon.1, Mystery Land, Decibel, and In Qontrol to name a few. And I will never forget Q-BASE 2009. I got so much support during my set!

It's like I'm living in a dream. I'm only 22 years old / young and it's all going so fast! I cannot tell you how honoured I feel getting to play main stage at Defqon.1 Australia.

How do you spend your time when not dj’ing or producing music?
Hanging out with friends, playing soccer and off course playing on the PS3.
    So just chilling!

What editions of Defqon.1 have you played at so far and how was your experience?
I played at Defqon.1 The Netherlands in 2008, 2009 and 2010. The first 2 years I played at the PURPLE (talent) stage which was really cool, but this year I played at the BLUE (hardstyle) stage which was one of my best experiences so far. Great vibe, so many people and so much support!

What can we expect from your set at Defqon.1 Australia?
I want introduce my music style to the Aussies! So what can you expect?...
Some harder tracks but also real party tracks! I’m really looking forward to it. Damn! Can't wait.

Who are you going to check out at the festival?
I want to see every stage because I love so many different music styles. Most important; I want to see how you Aussies party! And off course I’m going to visit the Toneshifterz at the BLUE stage, because they are on the same label as I am!

How long are you staying in Australia and what’s on your to-do list during that time?
I'm staying for 8 days, so I’ve got 6 days to do things. I’m just going to let everything come down on me. I heard some great stories about your country and I want to see and experience as much as possible during my trip!!

What are your plans for the rest of the year?
Off course produce some new tracks! I'm in a great vibe this year. So I will probably do some more experimenting the coming months, stay tuned and see you next week!
